What We Do

Rob’s Glass has been in business since January 1st, 1995. The company is owned by me (Rob) and Steffie Shipley and if you’re one of our many long time customers you’ll remember the truck signs, which used to say, “Windshield broke. Call the English bloke.” – and the logo.

We incorporated in 1999 and in 2006 we were approached by Glass Doctor regarding the franchise for San Diego. We felt very much in tune with the Glass doctor philosophy of honesty, integrity and strong customer service since this was how we had built Rob’s Glass. By the middle of 2007 we came to an understanding with them and began operating the corporation under the Glass Doctor name at the beginning of 2008.

We have been blessed by our many, long term and extremely loyal, customers. The continuation of this web site is in large measure a tribute to them. We have new premises, and another phone number at our Kearny Mesa offices but so many of our customers still have the original number in their speed dialers, we daren’t let it go. It still has an emotional attachment for us, as well, since if you spell it out it’s 697- ROBS!

We now provide a wider range of services than ever before and this grows each year. We are now able to supply almost all the glass services most people will need:

• Custom glass shower & tub enclosures and shower doors
• Table tops of all sizes and shapes
• Mirrors in any size and shape you wish
• Help reduce noise levels
• Dual pane inserts (IGUs)
• Auto glass of any type. We’ve worked on vehicles from 1928 on and provided glass for street rods and custom cars. We also install windshields in motor homes and school buses. Much of this glass we cut on site from sheets of windshield grade glass.
• Heavy equipment and cranes are another specialty. A recent job was a very large windshield in a floating crane for our friends in the Navy.

We are enthusiastic supporters of our members of the military and we support, and encourage others to help Operation Homefront or Homefront San Diego. Both these organizations assist our local Sailors or Marines, when in need. Both organizations do a terrific job and can always use donations of help, money or materials. Semper Fi!
